Back on celluloid after two decades

Back on celluloid after two decades

A family member recently gave me their old Minolta X-300 SLR which they hadn't used since they got a digital camera in the early 2000s, and gave me instructions to try using it. An order of film, 2 torn reels, and a sellotaped note on the back, and a week's worth of waiting later, and I have some results from a few walks and rides around London.

All the images were developed by Rapid Eye in Shoreditch (thanks friends who recommended them!) The film was from Analogue Wonderland. The black-and-white shots are all on Kentmere 400 (you can get a free roll with an Analogue Wonderland order if you use this referral link) and the colour shots are on Cinestill  800T.

Close up on a mass of asters with light purple florets and yellow disks turning brown, on green stalks.
A Dutch bicycle on its kickstand against a brick wall with a white door, below a large wisteria plant with some large late flowers.
Cinestill 800T is quite cool in daylight - I had to warm this one up in post
An illuminated station sign with roundels for DLR, Elizabeth Line, Overground, Underground, and British Rail. Exposed over the top: the words "SCAN AND SHOP" in neon lettering.

Down onto a canal towpath as someone cycles away on a hire bike. They are reflected in a curved bridge soaring above with reflective panels on the underside.
Time to reflect?
Across a canalised river under a road bridge, with the sky and the bridge reflected in the water. There is graffiti on the far wall.
Golden hour view over rolling fields and tree-lined paths in Hampstead Heath. People walk to and fro on the paths and across the fields.
Sycamore seeds on a bare branch at a cool dusk.
Three people walk away from camera through an underpass to Hackney Wick station. The illuminated lettering and roundel have a fizzy glow like a lightsaber.
